“Wow, that guitarist is awesome. If I can play like that, ….”
Have you ever said like the statement above?
If you have, it means you are normal, you think you are still in the progress of becoming better.
The progress to become a wow fingerstyle guitarist is not easy. I am still learning and my level is not high. Maybe, among you, there are the guitarists that have higher capabilities than me ^_^.
It doesn’t matter. I just want to share what I learn from the other guitarists who are capable enough.
And from those wow fingerstyle guitarists, I take three things, three steps that make them wow fingerstyle guitarists.
First, Pray
“You must be kidding, right?”Maybe, you said so, but no, I am not kidding. I am serious.
They realize, that their abilities; capacities to do; is from God. They can do nothing if God doesn't give them power and knowledge to understand what they learn.
Too religious? We are human being, the creation of God. Of course, we have to depend on God who gives us talents,
Pray first before practicing, and we can get ability to improve our skills.
Arrogancy is the thing that block the competencies. Knowing that God is the centre of the knowledge is crucial.
The successful fingerstyle guitarists know that well.
Second, Discipline in Practicing everyday
Practice makes Perfect.Everybody knows it well.
No pain, no gain. The guitarists spends a lot of practicing hours everyday. Bruishes, wounds, pain on the fingertips on the left hands, many kinds of sacrifices that they have to face each day.
Do they stop?
No, they keep practicing, practicing, and practicing.
Because they know the consistency is the key to be successful in their lives.
Third, Show their performances in front of the crowd and record the plays in YouTube channel
I was shy in the past. I did not show my ability to the public. Only playing at home and enjoy myself.Is it wrong? Of course not. But, the problem was I got bored and didn’t have discipline to practice, and thought that playing guitar was wasting time.
If I showed to the public long time ago, I would survive to improve my ability in playing guitar.
But better late than never. Now I realize and try to show my performance in playing guitar whenever it is possible. Luckily, there is Youtube that can show to the world that I can also play fingerstyle guitar.

It is not boasting. Just want to share.
I also see the fingerstyle guitarists like Sungha Jung, Jubing Kristianto, Tommy Emmanuel, and many others like to share their abilities and knowledge about fingerstyle guitar. Also, the youtube channel can be used as their promotion channels that the other people can hire them as the entertainers at their events such as wedding parties or something like those.

Actually, there is no limit of being the wow fingerstyle guitarist. The most important thing is do not stop learning, do not stop practicing, and be sure to ourselves that music can be fun and make the other people happy at the same time. Entertaining, and relaxing at the same time.
Share the happiness of playing fingerstyle guitar. Guitar is not just the ordinary musical instrument. It is a precious musical instrument.
